I 35 Downtown Study
Project Types: Study, Capacity Expansion, Operation ImprovementsThe study will identify needed added capacity, operational or other improvements on the IH 10, IH 35, IH 37, US 90 and US 281 corridors in downtown San Antonio to address congestion. Earlier PEL studies recommended making improvements to potential alternative/parallel routes to this segment of I-35 due to the complexity and potentially controversial nature of rebuilding and expanding the current facility. The IH 35 downtown study would build upon the earlier PEL studies and carry feasibility study recommendations forward through schematic and environmental clearance.

VIA Rapid Transit Corridor Study
Project Types: Study, Bus Rapid TransitWebsite: https://www.viainfo.net/rapidtransit/
VIA received FTA funds and consultant was procured to review existing information and workshop immediate priorities with VIA that resulted in an action plan and a roadmap for the formal Advance Rapid Transit efforts to begin. VIA will be studying a series of corridors in San Antonio to place Rapid Transit routes on San Pedro, St. Mary's/Roosevelt known as the North-South Greenline, W. Commerce/Buena Vista/Market, E. Commerce known as the East-West Silver Line, Fredericksburg Road (SL 345), Broadway/Austin Highway (LP 368). These routes could use dedicated lanes or shoulders during peak periods as well as transit signal priority, and branded stations for boarding. The study for the San Pedro and St. Mary's/Roosevelt (North-South Greenline Corridor) which work components included advanced project definition (APD) is complete and has resulted in the corridor entering the Project Development phase of the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Capital Investment Grant (CIG) Program in August 2021. The Greenline's design is ongoing however it has received environmental clearance. The study for W. Commerce/Buena Vista/Market, and E Commerce (East-West Silver line) is still progressing and the project has also entered the Project Development phase of the FTA's CIG Program in October 2022. Preliminary engineering and environmental clearance are underway. After East-West corridor is complete then similar scope of work will proceed for the Northwest (Fredericksburg Road-SL 345) and Northeast (Broadway/Austin Hwy-LP 368) corridors.
