35Express Phase 1
Project Types: Bicycle/Pedestrian Improvements, Capacity Expansion, Grade Separation, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Interchange/Intersection Improvements, Managed Lanes/TollWebsite: http://www.35express.org/
The 35Express project extends approximately 30 miles, through eight cities and two counties, from I-635 in Dallas County to US 380 in Denton County. The Design-Build project is expected to relieve traffic congestion in one of the most heavily traveled corridors in the North Texas region. Phase 1 rebuilt, rehabilitated, and widened the entire corridor to provide dynamically-priced toll managed lanes, additional general purpose lanes, and continuous frontage roads. The project will incorporate an additional general purpose lane in each direction in Denton County, two reversible toll managed lanes from Valley View Lane to Turbeville Road, and a bridge over Lake Lewisville. The total cost of the two-phase 35Express project is expected to cost a total of $4.8 billion, with phase 2 beginning after the first phase's completion and funding has been identified. The project includes reconstruction of the Belt Line Road interchange, new shared path for pedestrians and cyclists across the Lewisville Lake bridge, and construction of a new southbound bridge over Lewisville Lake. It also includes Intersection improvements at Dickerson, FM 407, Garden Ridge, S. Denton/Oak, Turbeville/Hundley, Corinth, Post Oak, and North Texas Blvd.
